January Is Looking Up!

I finally figured out I could take a picture of the jewelry case with the cover up which shows off more of this wonderful assortment. I particularly like the earrings on display. And our special sale on jewelry is still in force, Guys! Anything in this case or in the cabinet are 1/2 off.
Again I'm going to play my guessing game which I've done to smashingly poor results in the past but here goes anyway: all the way to top right, is that a squirrel's tail or a shell? I'm going to leave you to guess what the bar going across the bottom of the picture is. I know but I'm embarrassed to say.
Many lovely pieces of glass in this cupboard. No more need be said--just click on the picture and take a look! I misspoke last time and called some regular (although lovely) china cups demitasse cups but I really believe we've got quite an assortment of that very thing all the way to the right, fourth shelf from the bottom.
Pig is overseeing our antique cupboard, which always has some things that wouldn't be there if I took the time to shop when I take these pictures. I'm particularly fond of that deep rose color that makes me think of Minnesota in the Fall and all the way to the bottom right are some objects of that particular color you just might not find when you get there as I'm working today!
The Dollar Rack has lots of warm, yummy stuff to pile into at night when the wind is blowing and the temperature is down in the 30's and 40's as it's been lately. Brrrrrrr! When will it stop? Also, lots of jeans and other slacks--mostly women's I think--and every last thing on this rack can be had for for the altogether amazing price of one dollar!

JANUARY: TIME OF THE BLAHS!

I do think we have the blahs going strong in January after the excitement of Christmas and Hanukkah and New Years and that's why I'm showing this absolutely wonderful plate first. A little jolt of energy? Wonderful!
This little guy doesn't have the blahs. He's cold! Whatever is he doing out there without his parents? You know the movie--these little guys cuddle up to their parents (often their daddies) because where they come from it's cold!
I have a book given to me by one of my sons that had an early horse pictured in it and this picture reminds of it. Early horses were short and stocky. When, oh when, did you hear the word "stocky" meaning something good? This horse deserves a central place on your wall--he's that special!
Seldom have I been able to give Pig a central place on my blog page and here he's fighting with some nice things which perhaps you haven't seen, or if you have, you haven't given them your full attention. There's a lovely set of china, a lovely doll in its own case, lovely demitasse cups which just demand a whole set of stern ladies to enjoy them.
The Turnabout Dollar Rack with a whole lot of lovely skirts! Do come in and take a look!

Turnabout Party Offerings!

I arrived at the Turnabout yesterday to take these pictures and found a party in full swing. No booze--just a bunch of ladies oohing and awing over the offerings. Over the weekend a full contingent of ladies had come into the shop and put out an amazing group of goodies. Here you see the ones in the front cabinet.
I think this cabinet speaks for itself. I love the birds. Look at the glass bowl on the left lower shelf. It is a beauty.
Offerings here include that great silver platter just waiting for your roasted turkey and the delicate blue vase on the third shelf from the bottom.
A night sky filled with wonders; the pink necklace is truly astounding.
There was such a crush of us in the shop that I couldn't take a picture of the Dollar Rack but thought this doll display above the front cupboard made up for it. I'm told the little white doll is quite precious. I was given her name but do you think I can remember it? Too much partying!

Christmas Joy Means Jewelry!

I am aware that there are limits to alliteration: "Christmas Joy Means Jewelry?" Yes, that's my lame attempt at alliteration but Guys look at all this jewelry! And it just keeps coming! Just to show you that we're not all beautiful jewelry this Holiday Season, below you'll see some knock down wonderful treasures from our two wondrous cupboards; there's a sweet little thing peeking out of the top shelf all the way to the right topped by a dollop of red--a tiny, tiny teacup sitting on a tiny saucer? I wonder if that's small enough for my collection of miniatures. I can't tell until I knock on this treasure door twice, which you, of course, can do right now, as you're reading this--which sigh I can't do until later.
Our cupboard is literally bursting at the seams: three teapots, look for them on the third shelf from the top; one very unusual coffee pot just below them; a pitcher that looks like it was found in an archaeological dig--you'll see that on the bottom shelf. Another wonderful possible addition to my miniature collection--second shelf from the bottom--all the way to the right.
Glass is the name of the game in this cupboard: I am particularly looking at a set of six amber colored little plates third shelf down from the top--I like to mix my plates when I entertain and these would make beautiful desert plates. There's an amazing vase in the very center on the bottom shelf. Now I now we all look at things differently, but--from my vantage point--not being able to knock two times on this treasure chest--it looks worthy of display!
I mentioned we had jewelry, right? These earrings are truly amazing. I'm thinking of that special Christmas affair: you've got a rather plain but elegant blue dress you're thinking of wearing, how about those earring dead center? Now, you'd have to have the right bearing to carry them--no stooping, or you'd fall right over. No, I did not pick them up, but my guess is they only look heavy. Look at those delicate earrings just to the left of them: they look like the finest crystal--makes one think of winter and icicles!
I couldn't believe this bracelet when I saw it in the case. Yes, I know, $55 is a lot but you're worth it!
A veritable panoply of things on the dollar rack--mostly shirts I think. No, panoply doesn't really describe what we've got here but I love that word!

Holiday Happening!

In last week's blog posting I said this cupboard would be replenished and here it is! This is a special time for the Turnabout when all the members donate special things for the holidays. This cupboard is fairly bursting with great things! Remember we're open at 12 PM today! Yes, today--Wednesday--first time ever.
I love seeing this picture blown up. Yes, I do peek once in awhile. There's a tiger pacing at the end of a necklace and maybe some turquoise to the left and beads, beads, beads!
I'm not sure about that red necklace to the right. What do you think? Maybe it would be absolutely stunning with a classic black dress. Do they make those anymore? Lots of wonderful things here and on display for the first time. I am excited. Can you tell?
Our mascot, Pig, got annoyed that I wasn't featuring our antique cupboard so here it is once again. Lots of great things here for the Holidays. Just click on the picture and feast your eyes.
Again we have some boxes terribly shy about being spied upon under the counter. This is an amazing mirror, by the way. It's just dying to hang in that important place--somewhere!
Again, a new dollar rack! I see an amazing assemblage of clothes here: shirts and blouses of all kinds but no slacks on hand I'm afraid unless you spot something I'm missing.

Enjoy the Turnabout Shop's Holiday Happening!

The Night Sky And Other Offerings!

Here we come to the last offering for our October sale. Oops. No. You can't have any of these for 1/2 off. Sorry. I must say I'm confused. Anyway, these lovely items from the night sky are beautiful as well as beautifully priced.
I must say our beautiful jewelry case is looking bereft these days. It's waiting for new offerings, come next week. Still, there are some interesting things here. I like that necklace toward the left that looks like an offering for a cashmere sweater in Autumn colors. Sorry, I'm not featuring the sweater. Those great silver buttons are still there, too. Doesn't anyone sew anymore?

Before I take us on a tour of these shelves, I have to say that if any of the items you see in the store have a white rectangular sticker on them they're not half price. I just peeked at both shelves in their full glory and hey, I'm nervous, there are such great things here. Truly, truly beautiful! If the item you're interested in doesn't have that blasted sticker, you're OK. It's half price. There's some of that thirties depression glass there--actually, maybe quite a bit and that's an absolutely lovely vase on the lower shelf, all the way to the right and there's a lot of other good stuff here: pitchers, coffee pots, vases and more. This wasn't quite shot with the "between the legs" dexterity (you've seen tennis players do that, right?) but I must say I am getting good at taking these pictures. I'll really claim that, after I see the full blown version. All of this goes for half price Thursday, Friday and Saturday of this week and then the sale is only a memory. October comes to an end soon and that's when this sale bids goodbye too. Haven't you just loved this sale?
Again, watch out for the rectangular sticker. Is that hale and hearty Minnesotan, the proud pheasant, still there? Yes, and you can take it home for 1/2 price, as well as anything else in this cupboard, unless, of course, it has that rectangular white sticker. I remember Fall days in Minneapolis at our home on Lake Harriet: a brisk October wind blowing, and an even heartier version of this guy in our yard. Little cups grace the fourth shelf from the bottom and what is that silly thing almost square in the center, second shelf from the bottom? The chef from the movie with the clever rats? Oooo I love him. It's got to be him! I can't wait to see if that's him--or a reasonable facsimile. I'd take that reasonable facsimile and go on a pretend party. Actually, I can't go on that pretend party, after all. When I peeked I had to look at what I thought was that chef or its facsimile and the mistake is so funny I just had to leave it. I didn't peek at anything else, I do so love being surprised. There's another lovely, perhaps depression glass bowl, just waiting to hold a Thanksgiving offering of apples. The platter close by has to be depression glass, but I'll only know when I see it hale and hearty.
Here you have our Dollar Rack once again, and sorry, everything here is still a dollar. I am becoming more and more fond of fabrics. There is a lovely red jacket and a pink one just to the left of it and believe it or not, the sleeve of a red striped blouse that would go beautifully with either one peeking out at you all the way to the left. A couple of men's stern gray jackets hang in the center and a potpourri of shirts of many colors to perk them up peek out here and there. I'm not for gray on my guy but with a lovely shirt to liven it up and pull out all those gradations of gray, that I'd go for!

Above the rack, you see just a bit of that wonderful Nut Tree artist's work. Sorry, I've just been told--the blessed white sticker again so anything by the artist that's in the shop is full price. Do have a grand time shopping and watch for that white, rectangular sticker!

A Misplaced Set of Keys... The Confusion!

A set of misplaced keys prevented me from taking pictures at the shop this week so I'm featuring pictures I took which I just happened to have on hand from last week. How about that for brilliance? I again want to point out the wonderfulness of this cupboard. All of these items have been appraised. None--repeat NONE of these items are part of our October 1/2 sale but aren't they lovely? Look at that rose colored glass on the bottom shelf; the oblong glass dish on the shelf above it; that wonderful jumble of little cups above that and I do love that large decorated wooden platter on the top shelf.
Don't you love fabrics? Here we have a lovely collection of them among women's jackets. Browse in comfort from your overstuffed chair at home. I'm dying to make my own personal tour. I think you know I like bright--how about that bright green one in the middle countered by the bright blue to the right?
Okay, just to repeat, we are in the middle of our October 1/2 off sale so everything you see here is 1/2 off. How about that? No more are you guys interested in plain--plain used to be the order of the day. A man perked up his wardrobe with ties. Ties! About time. How long did the white shirt reign supreme? Too long. Here you see an interesting assemblage of men's goodies--shirts and jackets, one jacket square in the middle just waiting for the right guy. Maybe it's already been claimed. I wonder whether that red shirt just behind it is really a sweater? I do get frustrated not being able to see what's actually there until I post.
The men definitely have it this time. I scrunched over a little more to the left on the bottom shelf because I became fascinated by all those shirts. Who says men's clothes aren't bright? Here you have bright--bright yellow and bright red and one mostly red shirt that looks like it's heading for Hawaii. Hey, take me along!

Here are men's slacks--one looks like it's dying to join the shirt heading to Hawaii. Like that antique cupboard, men's slacks have been sadly neglected. No more.

This is the same Dollar Rack from last week. Hey, no problem! I've had it on the best authority that this same rack is on display this week with some items added to it. All these items are still all to be had for $1.00. Sorry. No 1/2 off here!
